Severe storms ravaged parts of Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kentucky, resulting in at least 14 fatalities and significant destruction. Among the hardest-hit areas was Cooke County, Texas, where a powerful tornado claimed seven lives, including two young children from a single family.

Hundreds of buildings were damaged or destroyed, with scores of people seeking refuge at a truck stop as the tornado bore down on them. Despite the extensive damage, rescue efforts managed to save all those trapped within the wreckage.

1. Severe storms struck the U.S. Southern Plains and Ozarks, leaving a trail of destruction and claiming at least 14 lives.

2. Cooke County, Texas, bore the brunt of the devastation, with a powerful tornado causing seven fatalities, including two children.

3. Over 200 homes were destroyed, and another 120 buildings were damaged in the affected areas.

4. Dozens sought shelter at a truck stop as the tornado approached, with around 125 people taking cover inside a gasoline station.

5. Despite the intensity of the storm, all individuals at the truck stop survived, though many were trapped in the wreckage for some time.

6. Rescue efforts were successful in freeing those trapped, with no additional fatalities reported among those seeking refuge at the truck stop.
