Gaza Ministry Reports at Least 35 Killed in Strike That Hit Civilian

A deadly Israeli airstrike targeted an area in Rafah, southern Gaza, where internally displaced civilians were sheltering in tents, resulting in at least 35 deaths, primarily women and children, according to Palestinian health officials.

The strike, conducted based on intelligence of Hamas presence, ignited flames trapping many civilians. Médecins Sans Frontières and other humanitarian groups condemned the attack, emphasising the lack of safety in Gaza. Hamas retaliated with missile barrages, prompting interceptions by Israeli defences.

The International Court of Justice ordered Israel to halt its assault on Rafah, citing immediate risks to Palestinians. Netanyahu’s government faces scrutiny over its conduct in the war, which has resulted in significant casualties and humanitarian crises in Gaza.
